The Future Is Not More Software. It Is AI That Understands What We Need.

For most of the technology era, the relationship between people and software has been remarkably one-sided. Companies purchased systems, employees were trained to use them, processes were redesigned around them, and organizations learned to live with their limitations. Whether it was finance, compliance, customer management, security or operations, the expectation was always the same: the human had to understand how the software worked.


We learned which screen contained the information, which fields needed to be completed, which reports had to be generated, and which workaround was required when the system did not quite fit the way the business operated. Over time, companies accumulated more applications, often solving individual problems while creating a larger problem of fragmentation. Employees became the bridge between systems, moving information from one platform to another and trying to assemble a complete picture from technology that was never designed to understand the organization.


I believe artificial intelligence, and particularly agentic AI, is beginning to change that model fundamentally.


The future of enterprise technology will not simply be another generation of better software products. The underlying software, databases, and infrastructure will still exist, but increasingly they will move into the background. The employee should no longer have to understand every system involved in completing a task. Instead, AI agents will increasingly understand what the person is trying to accomplish, interact with the systems required to accomplish it, and bring the relevant information or action back to the human.


That is a much larger change than putting a chatbot on top of an existing application.


Consider KYC and AML compliance. Today, a compliance professional may need to review documents, access several databases, compare information, check previous records and determine whether something requires further investigation. The future should not be another dashboard that the compliance officer must learn. An AI-driven environment should be able to understand the process, collect the relevant information, recognize what is missing or inconsistent, perform permitted checks, and present the issues that genuinely require human judgement.


The same principle applies to PCI compliance and customer service. A customer may have one relationship with a company, while the employee dealing with that customer has to navigate several different systems to understand it. AI has the potential to remove much of that friction by understanding the customer's history, the relevant policies, previous interactions, and available actions without requiring the employee to manually search through multiple applications. The technology handles the complexity in the background while the human focuses on the relationship and the decision.


I see the same transformation happening in operational environments. Security, intelligence, travel, facilities, business continuity, and crisis management often operate with separate sources of information. Yet when an incident occurs, senior management does not want six different systems and six different reports. They want to understand what is happening, who or what is affected, what has changed, and what action needs to be taken.


This is where the concept of a shared operational picture becomes especially powerful. People, assets, sites, journeys, incidents, and intelligence can be connected into one operational environment, allowing AI to continuously evaluate how those pieces relate to one another. The value is not simply displaying information on a map or dashboard. It is understanding the relationships within that information and helping the organization recognize what matters before someone has to manually connect the dots.


This is the direction we are building toward at SoveraTech Technologies, based in Egypt. We are developing AI and agentic solutions across areas including PCI, KYC and AML, customer service, organizational knowledge and a shared operational picture. At first glance, these may appear to be separate technology markets, but I believe they are manifestations of the same underlying change.


The objective is no longer simply to build another software product and then teach people how to use it. The objective is to create an intelligent layer that understands the organization, works across its information and systems, and helps the human accomplish what they actually need to accomplish.


There will still be interfaces, databases, and enterprise platforms. But I believe their importance to the end user will steadily decline. People will increasingly stop asking which application they need to open and instead tell the technology what they are trying to achieve. AI agents will determine which systems, information, and processes are required behind the scenes.


That transition also makes governance more important, not less. If AI agents are going to operate across company information and business processes, organizations must retain control over what the technology can access, what it can execute, what requires approval, and where human accountability remains. Greater intelligence cannot mean less control.

For decades, people learned how to operate software. We changed our habits, our processes and sometimes entire organizations to accommodate the technology we purchased.

I believe that relationship is now reversing.


The next generation of enterprise technology will increasingly learn how the organization operates, understand what its people need, and work across the systems on their behalf. Traditional software will not disappear overnight, but software as a product that humans must constantly learn, navigate, and manage will increasingly become invisible.


The future is not another application. It is an intelligent environment that understands what needs to be done and helps people do it.
